the beginning of a new era... my first sweater*

So among my many skills and crafts, I have gained a new obsession, KNITTING! I have been crocheting for years now. It has evolved into a meditation for me, used while riding buses, waiting in line, passing time, even walking. Knitting was always intrigued me but not until last winter did I decide that I absolutely had to learn. So I taught myself and entered into the prestigious world of knitters. Now I knit and purl backwards, as they call it "continental" but am happy and fulfilled with my new craft. As always I have taken it to the extremes right away* My first project was a simple in the round hat, then double pointed needle hand-warmers, and now with out further adieu my first sweater, complete with cables, bobbles and a nice snug fit...

The sweater is made from 12 skeins of Blue Sky Bluky, (50% Alpaca 50% Wool, made in Peru. Color 1002 Lot 6117)
I followed a Vogue Knitting Pattern from the Holiday 2005 edition, for the Cropped Jacket, designed by James Coviello.

I added my own creative expression with wooden beads knitted into the sleeves and a buffalo horn button from India.

Just imagine, if this is the first one, what's yet to come!
